"Retablo Painting!" ~ April 26th, 1-4pm

Learn this traditional New Mexico Folk Art from Georgia Carbone, as it was taught to her by 40-year-retablo-painter, Theresa Vigil Montoya of Chimayo. Make a beautiful symbolic painting on wood to give as a gift or hang on the wall.
.
Retablos are painted to invoke the special powers of that particular saint or symbol so that the qualities they represent can come into your life to support you on your life's journey. They can also be painted to bring healing or support to someone else. St. Valentine, for instance, is the patron saint of lovers and engaged couples, and beekeepers! Paint St. Valentine, the Winged Heart, Flaming Heart, Virgin of Guadalupe...or another saint or symbol that resonates with you.
